Captain Aaron "Tip" Stanton

Aaron Stanton was born in Aug 14, 1840 in Traveler's Rest, Mississippi, to parents David and Anne Elizabeth (neé Winston) Stanton.
Aaron was known to family and friends as "Tip"; which was a name he got from his father, who was called "Tip" after he fought in the Battle of Tippecanoe.
On Oct 12, 1865 in Natchez, Mississippi, he married Elizabeth Elmina "Ella" Brandon. Aaron fought in the Civil War for the Confederate States, where he accquired the rank of Captain.
Ella and Aaron had four children: Charlotte Brandon Stanton, Anna Winston Stanton, Agnes Stanton, and David Brandon Stanton. In 1880, the ages of Ella's children were Charlotte (13), Anna (12), Agnes (10), and David (7).
Aaron Stanton died Jan 1, 1918 and is buried, along with his wife, Ella Brandon Stanton (d. 1900), in Natchez City Cemetery in Natchez, Mississippi. A memorial is engraved into Aaron's headstone for their son, David Stanton, who died and is buried in Batopilas, Mexico (d. 1894).
